Mortimer Methodist Church

Methodist
Congregation: 40 adults (8 under 18)

Minister: Reverend John Banks
Mortimer Methodist Church is to respond to the gospel of God’s love in Christ and to live out its discipleship in worship and mission. It does this through:
Worship: The Church exists to increase awareness of God’s presence and to celebrate God’s love.
Learning and Caring: The Church exists to help people to grow and learn as Christians, through mutual support and care.
Service: The Church exists to be a good neighbour to people in need and to challenge injustice.

Each one of us is God’s special work of art. Through us, God teaches and inspires those who view our lives. ———– Joni Eareckson Tada

Love comes out of heaven, unasked and unsought. Pearl S Buck

Jesus answered them, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. Very truly, I tell you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains just a single grain; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.” (John 12 vs 23-24)

Outreach, Activities & Ministries

Local Outreach & Community Activities
The Church exists to be a good neighbour to people in need and to challenge injustice.
Warm Welcome
At Warm Welcome we support the community, including lonely people and those suffering from poor mental health.

Our group has a mixed range of ages from as young as 30s, up to 80+. This is nice as everyone brings something different to our group.

We offer a wide range of activities from adult colouring, quiz books, like sudoku etc. Craft, an ongoing puzzle board, cards, and board games are all on the table and enjoyed by many.

Faith & Friends
Join us for faith and friendship, refreshments too, as Faith the bear finds out more about what faith means! Enjoy her adventurous journey through the bible with the very young, meeting Jesus, singing songs, making crafts and having fun!! You are welcomed to join us in the Church from 9am for Coffee/Tea/Toast with a 9.30am start on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month

Who Let The Dads Out?

We meet every 2nd Saturday of the month in the Methodist Church Hall 09.30 – 11.30. Dads, Granddads, Uncles, carers, father figures, etc are welcome to bring along children aged 0-10. A breakfast of egg and bacon roll with tea or coffee is provided for the dads, and there is a children’s table with their own food and drinks.

The adults will have time to sit and talk or play with their children. For the children, we have ride-on toys, a soft play area for tots, and a craft table for the children to practice their skills on this month’s theme.

Come and join us for a relaxed morning. Donations at the door.

Sharing Jesus, through God’s love.

Who Let The Dads Out?

Churches creating spaces where dads and their children can have fun together, form friendships, and build community.

We believe that to ‘turn the hearts of the fathers to their children and the hearts of the children to their fathers’ (Malachi 4:6, NIV 1984) is a powerful way ‘to make ready a people prepared for the Lord’ (Luke 1:17).
Other Activities & Ministries
Coffee Morning & Bric-A-Brac every 1st Saturday of the month

Youth & Young People

Under 18s
0-18
Junior church is part of our 10.30 Morning Service – the children in the congregation having a short talk from the Minister or leader conducting the service.

They then leave for the hall with at least 2 teachers and have a story from the Bible and whatever song/game/craft helps them to understand the Bible teaching.

Numbers are small – between 4-10 but we try to make the session age appropriate and each child is special.

We have a committed rota of teachers, all checked by the current Safeguarding procedures.
18-30s
18-30
None at present. We aim to improve this in the coming months with the employment of a Youth Leader
