The church was started in 1993 by an initiative of Orchard Baptist Church, Colchester. For most of the time since its inception the church had a Baptist minister as Pastor, but is now served largely by visiting preachers. It has no premises of its own and instead uses the local YMCA Hall for its Sunday services, where we enjoy a good relationship with the trustees and other users of the hall. Worship is very open, the congregation participating with a word or prayer, and led by a small music group. The church's stated purpose is to worship God; to care for one another; to reach out to the community with the gospel; and to care for the community.
