Bethany Church Manchester

Elim Pentecostal
Congregation: 60 adults (20 under 18)

Hello, we would love to introduce ourselves! We are Bethany Church, a local Church in the heart of the community in Gatley.

When Jesus was walking the earth ‘Bethany’ was the place where he would go to hang out with his friends, kick back and relax. It was the place he would talk to them, laugh with them, eat, have fun, and sometimes cry with them. It was a place of acceptance and belonging.

We want Bethany in Gatley to be a place like that. A place where we can be ourselves, meet with others, take time out and try to make sense of the world we live in and our purpose in it.

We have loads going on during the week, check out the website bethany.uk

Hope to see you soon, we are saving a seat for you…

—a hunger to know God, and become more like Him.
—a thirst to be a community who love, through thick and thin, in deed and in truth.

God loves with open arms and with a wide open heart. And we have chosen this as our passion and purpose also. We are aware of our failings and weaknesses and each of us have areas in our lives we are working on. Yet our aim is high —to grow, make friends, build family, and become the best version of ourselves we can possibly be.

We know we don’t have it all together, but we are discovering what it means to find LIFE in Jesus, to follow him fully, and allow Him space so He can free us from things that pain or bind us. Jesus promised healing, victory, abundant life and we aim for nothing less.

Children are at the heart of Bethany church life. We believe that you are never too young to ask the big questions in life and that’s why Kids’ Church is an integral part of what we do. Kids’ Church creates a space for 5-11 year olds to get to know God and each other. We learn and grow together through play and craft activities designed for this age group. Kids’ Church is on every Sunday during the morning service and new children are welcome at every session.

Kids’ Church is hosted by our Kids’ Team who are committed to the wellbeing and development of our children. The team undertake relevant training and procedures to meet safeguarding requirements.
Our desire is to see children thriving, making friends and having fun. As well as hosting events, parties and holiday clubs for local children throughout the year, we are involved in schools’ work and community outreach projects.

Supporting young people is part of our DNA here at Bethany. Our passion is to see young people rooted in a community where they feel heard and valued.

During Sunday services, our Radi8 group provides a fun and faith-filled space for 11-16 year olds to connect with God and explore what the Bible means practically for us today. Our sessions are interactive and tailored to the 11-16 age group. We also run courses to meet young people’s needs, including the Youth Alpha Course and the Youth Wellbeing Journey.

See our Limitless Youth section to find out all about our mid-week youth club.

We organise trips throughout the year ranging from visits to amusement parks to regional and national youth events.
Our youth work is run by a diverse team which includes leaders from our church, our PAIS apprentices and student youth workers. The team are committed to seeing young people reach their potential. The team undertake relevant training and procedures to meet safeguarding requirements.
